Welcome Dr. Tiffany Salter, new Chief Program and Impact Officer

Welcome to our new Chief Program and Impact Officer, Dr. Tiffany Salter.

Tiffany is thrilled to join YWCA Central Maine as the Chief Program and Impact Officer. She moved to the Lewiston-Auburn community on January 1, 2017, when she accepted a position at Bates College for a one-semester appointment that turned into a five-and-a-half-year stint as a Visiting Professor. In her time there, she worked in both the English Department and the Rhetoric, Film, and Screen Studies Department. And when her time with the institution was up, she decided she wanted to stay in the area, having completely fallen in love with Central Maine.

In her time in academia, Tiffany’s research in Pacific Islander literature and Asian American literature focused on decolonization in the U.S. empire as well as issues of race, representation, and immigration. Since leaving Bates in 2022, Tiffany has focused on two major projects. She has worked with a Buddhist nunnery in Falmouth, taking lead to organize a six-week international retreat in 2023; about 130 nuns from four continents gathered in Shravasti, India https://sravastiabbey.org/shravasti-varsa-begins-in-india/. And she co-founded a small independent book press at the intersection of literature and games dedicated to publishing tabletop role-playing games celebrating found family and the LGBTQIA+ community; their first publication, for which Tiffany did the layout, has been nominated for several industry awards https://scryptidgames.com/.

Tiffany is excited to bring her range of experience to the YWCA to support a mission that is near and dear to her heart.
