Pre-school assistant teacher

The YWCA of Central Maine is looking for an assistant pre-school teacher for our 2 ½ – 5 year old students. Candidates for this position must be passionate about children and willing to accept each child as the individual that they are. Assistant teachers contribute to creating developmentally appropriate educational activities for young children that promote YWCA values, foster a love of learning, and acclimate children to the classroom setting. Each teacher is responsible for developing and implementing curriculum, following the Maine Early Education Guidelines, swimming two times a week with their students, and following State of Maine Licensing expectations. We are looking for committed staff that will help the children grow and learn in a safe and nurturing environment.

Applicants must be at least 18 years or older, High School Graduate or equivalent required.  Must have one year of college courses including course work in child care or education related field, OR 1 year experience working in a licensed children’s daycare facility for 13+ children.  Must be able to pass a back ground check.

Before and/or After School Teachers

The YWCA of Central Maine is hiring for our School Age Before and After School Program.

This is a part-time position that requires lots of energy, the ability to build strong bonds with children and act as a positive role model/mentor all while being able to set limits and boundaries.  Candidates for this position must be passionate about children and willing to accept each child as the individual that they are. Before and After School Staff create engaging educational activities for young children that promote YWCA values. Each staff person is responsible for developing and implementing after school activities, the safety and well-being of each child, swimming one time a week with the children, and following State of Maine Licensing expectations.

Must be at least 18 years old and have previous experience working with children between the ages of 5 and 12 years old. This position is 10-20 hours a week with some opportunities to work extra hours throughout the year. Must be able to pass a back ground check.
