STEM Site Coordinator

YWCA Central Maine is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the part-time role of STEM Site Coordinator. This newly created position will lead the implementation and coordination of a STEM pilot program Curated Pathways to Innovation. The STEM Coordinator will work with afterschool care sites to ensure achievement of work to ensure program outcomes. The STEM Coordinator will supervise the program implementation in afterschool settings and support the delivery of a curriculum that will create awareness, interest, preparation, and excitement for students. The STEM Coordinator will directly interface with students and educators, and support student learning in their pathway toward a career in STEM/Computing. This is a 12 hour a week position.

Director of Programs and Mission Impact

YWCA Central Maine is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the fulltime position of Director of Programs and Mission Impact. The Director of Programs and Mission Impact oversees the development and delivery of YWCA programs and advocacy, and ensures that our goal to eliminate racism and empower women is highly evident in all related YWCA interactions, service delivery and community relations. The Director of Programs and Mission Impact is responsible for developing and implementing programs specifically designed to eliminate racism and empower women, for promoting awareness of local and national issues related to racism, sexism and empowering women while ensuring compliance with various program contracts, grants, and regulations and for overseeing existing programs in their overall management and programmatic success including our childcare program. The Director will guide and implement racial and social justice components; create and execute activities and programs with the intention of influencing racial justice and women’s economic advancement within the YWCA community and engage in community outreach by attending events, hosting trainings, meetings, workshops, and work collaboratively with community partners engaged in similar work.

Knowledge and Experience:    

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in racial justice and women and girl’s empowerment work.

Experience with early childhood education administration, particularly in preschool or afterschool settings

Experience with advocacy and working with culturally diverse populations

Experience with program development, public speaking, organizing events, and evaluating outcomes

Experience with supervising and evaluating staff

Grant writing and reporting experience preferred

Maintenance Manager


YWCA Central Maine is searching for a highly qualified individual to fill a part time position of Maintenance Manager. The position is 20 hours a week with flexible hours to meet the needs of the facility and programs. Nights and weekend shift availability preferred. The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for the oversight and coordination of all daily maintenance operations at the facility including the overall sanitation, safety, and cleanliness of the YWCA facility. The Maintenance Manager will also be responsible for providing direct supervision and oversight to all custodians. The Maintenance Manager will oversee a range of maintenance efforts across the organization and facility including creating and maintaining a weekly schedule for custodial work, supervising custodial staff, managing maintenance activities for the upkeep of the building, its landscape and grounds, and resolve facility related concerns as they arise.

5 years’ experience in maintenance is required and management experience is preferred. Qualified candidates must have experience working independently, knowledge of maintenance procedures, knowledge of grounds maintenance, knowledge of systems to be maintained and the ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule. High school diploma or equivalent required.

The position is located in Lewiston
The hours will vary based on the needs of the organization.

Aquatics Supervisor/Instructor

Aquatics Supervisor/Instructor

YWCA Central Maine is searching for a hard-working, dependable individual to fill the part-time position of Aquatics Supervisor/Instructor. The supervisor of Aquatics plays a significant role in the overall success and safety of YWCA Aquatic Department activities. This is an Aquatic Supervisor position reporting to the Aquatic Director or Assistant Aquatic Director with close communication with all other Aquatic staff.  This supervisor responds to occasional on call needs of the building and program as requested, maintains cleanliness of pool area for health and safety of patrons and staff including: leads/co-leads department team meetings and trainings for staff. This position also instructs swim classes with kids of various ages and adults. The position is part-time, 25 hours a week.

High school diploma is preferred. Qualified candidates will be an American Red Cross Certified Lifeguard with CPR for the Professional Rescuer and a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a lifeguard. Experience with supervising staff, experience with pool chemicals, and experience in teaching water fitness preferred. American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification also preferred or be willing to get certified. Must be able to work independently, have knowledge of safety protocols and willingness to work as part of a team. Must be 20 years of age.

The position is located in Lewiston.

The hours are Monday- Wednesday 4-8/9pm and Saturday’s 6:15-2:00pm. Additional hours may be scheduled to meet the needs of lessons and classes.

Lead Preschool Teacher

The YWCA of Central Maine is searching for lead preschool teachers. Candidates for this position must be passionate about children and willing to accept each child as the individual that they are. Lead teachers create engaging educational activities for young children that promote YWCA values, foster a love of learning, and acclimate children to the classroom setting. Each lead teacher is responsible for developing and implementing curriculum,  swimming two times a week with their students, and following State of Maine Licensing expectations. Applicants must have at least one year of classroom experience, as well as an Associates Degree, with an Early Childhood Education focus preferred.  Must be able to pass a back ground check.
