The mission of the YWCA Central Maine is to eliminate racism and empower women while promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all people. The YWCA movement was established in 1858 and is the oldest and largest women’s organization in the United States. Serving on the Board of Directors at the YWCA Central Maine is an extraordinary opportunity for future-focused women leaders who are passionate about the YWCA’s mission and vision. The primary role of the YWCA Board of Directors is to provide mission-based, visionary leadership and strategic governance to enhance the organization’s services and programming. Board Members serve a three-year term and may be eligible for reappointment for one additional term. The organization is in search of Board Members who are enthusiastic about sharing their time, experience, and expertise in service of furthering the mission of eliminating racism and empowering women and girls. The YWCA Central Maine strives to have a Board of Directors that is representative of the racial, cultural, religious, class, and age diversity of the community that we serve and seeks women of all skill sets, experiences, and connections to the YWCA.
